Join us (online) tomorrow to find your flow
Welcome your creativity back with a 13-week Artist's Way group
Pam and I got to make a little magic together over the weekend—we hosted our first in-person essay writing workshop in my newly reclaimed “artist’s space” downstairs. I felt like I was floating for the whole rest of the day—the alchemy of women coming together in community to create, write, and workshop is such a powerful thing!
And it was such a perfect reminder that our creativity really does thrive in a container of connection, accountability, and inspiration. We had a blast and were so inspired by and grateful for the amazing writers who joined us with courage, vulnerability, and determination. Also, we want more!! If you want to experience a little of this beautiful creative flow, let us know by filling out a no-commitment interest form. We would love to offer regular opportunities to write and workshop in community and want to hear what works best for you.
Creativity goals, meet 2025
We’re only halfway through January, but I’ve gotta be honest: I’m patting myself on the back for being accountable to my new year creativity goals so far. Yeah, yeah, it’s only been two weeks, but I’ve doing my daily Morning Pages for The Artist’s Way, spending time in nature, connecting with friends, and reading fantastic books. I’d say that’s a pretty good start!
Last week, I watched the movie Nightbitch with a good friend. (If you haven’t seen it yet, I recommend watching with a mom friend. It’s on Hulu.) I’ll spare you my gushing review (which you can read on my personal column, if you’re so inclined), but there was one quote near the end that made me literally weep.
“Look at you! she would say. You're amazing! You're my mother! … Insist on your joy. Time is short, and you must make great haste.”
Many moms can relate to losing touch with our sense of joy, creativity, and our artistic selves. We may not all identify as an artist, writer, musician, or creator. But our joy? That matters. Your connection to your truest self? That matters.
In the brief time I’ve been doing The Artist’s Way, I feel a deep reconnection to myself and a recovery of my focus and flow. In the introduction to the book, author Julia Cameron talks about the importance of the practice itself: “What you are doing is creating pathways in your consciousness through which the creative forces can operate. Once you agree to clearing these pathways, your creativity emerges.”
Clearing pathways to get unblocked sounded pretty appealing to me—I decided I was hooked and there was no turning back. I needed to give it a try to really commit to myself, my joy, and my writing. I got chills when I read this line.
In a sense, as we are creative beings, our lives become our work of art.
We want you to experience some of this warm, fuzzy, sparkly flow—this is an invitation to prioritize yourself and your connection to something bigger for the next three months. Call it your higher self, call it the cosmos, call it creativity. Let’s dive in together. Here’s what you need to know.
