We just wrapped up the first LTYM Boulder holiday show and we’re already gearing up for our spring season! Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 4th.
Exciting Changes in 2025
In addition to having our show on a Sunday late afternoon (4pm), we have a new venue! Our spring event is at the historic First United Methodist Church in downtown Boulder.
It remains true that LTYM Boulder is NOT affiliated with any religion or specific spiritual beliefs or traditions.
FUMC Boulder’s motto is: Inclusiveness, Acceptance, and Joy—and as a Jew and a recovering Lutheran, we feel pretty good about that. 😉
If you’ve been to the church, whether as a congregant or maybe for a Boulder International Film Festival showing or a Boulder Bookstore event, you know it’s also a gorgeous venue.

Auditions for LTYM Boulder 2025 Coming Soon
We’ll be opening submissions for our annual Spring show on January 8th, so now is a great time to start brainstorming and writing.
We’ll share full audition details and dates in the new year, but here are some basics to keep in mind while you’re writing:
The central theme of the story must be motherhood. We always aim for a diverse mix of stories—we look for funny essays, poignant essays, and everything in between. We welcome all stories of motherhood from all people and celebrate diversity in our cast.
You DO NOT have to be a mother (or even a woman!) to audition.
You do not have to consider yourself a writer or have experience as a stage performer– we welcome all levels of experience with writing and speaking.
We recommend you check out videos of past shows, including Boulder’s 2013-2016 shows, which you may find here.
Stories should be…
5 minutes long when read aloud
Written by you (no professional writing experience required!)
True. (Funny, sad, heartwarming, traumatic, mundane, and everything in between can work!)
Stories should not be
Memorized
Generic (in other words, the more unique to you, the better!)
Vaguely, kind of a little bit about motherhood
Want some support writing your audition piece? We have a workshop for you.
If you’re committed to writing a stellar audition piece but aren’t sure where to begin, get some coaching from the LTYM Boulder producers!
Join us (Pam and Steph, LTYM co-producers) for a three-hour, in-person essay writing workshop on Saturday, January 11th.
We’ll give you the tools, the support, and all the chocolate and herbal tea you need to craft your story.
Early bird pricing is available through December 31st—save $30 with the discount pricing link here.
You’ll learn:
The necessary ingredients of a personal essay
The difference between a story and an anecdote
Brainstorming topics and distilling ideas
How to connect with your reader
The importance of creating scenes
Discovering what your story is really about
How to effectively revise your piece to make it stand out
The balance of showing and telling, and why it becomes even more important when reading your piece on stage
The difference between a piece of writing that reads better on paper versus one that comes alive when read aloud
You’ll also get a chance to write your piece and get feedback from your instructors, Pam and Steph.
This workshop is for anyone who wants to hone their writing skills in a supportive group with guidance from professional writers.
While this is a great opportunity to craft a potential Listen to Your Mother story, you’re welcome to work on whatever type of essay you want.
Come with your unpolished ideas and leave with the scaffolding of a compelling personal essay. You can bring a first draft, a seed of an idea, or a few story options to consider.
Saturday, January 11th
1-4 pm
Location TBD (in/around Arvada or Boulder)
Space is limited to 12 participants to foster an intimate, supportive environment so don’t wait to sign up. Full details here.

You’re looking for opportunities, inspiration, and maybe a gentle, loving kick in the pants to get your creative juices flowing.
We want to help you get your words onto the page, the stage, or even out of your head and into your journal—because the fireball of creativity that’s inside of you is only making you feel stuck until you can find the time and courage to unleash it.
Which is why we’ve created a whole beautiful mess of resources—The Word to Your Mother Resource Den—to help you unlock all the gorgeous creativity that’s swirling around inside of you.
The Word to Your Mother Resource Den includes:
A 20% discount on everything we offer (including the early bird price for the above workshop!), including 1:1 coaching with Steph and Pam and all workshops and writing communities
Weekly writing prompts beginning January 1st
Monthly guided meditations to unblock your creativity
A curated selection of books, articles, and podcasts we hand-picked for creative midlife women
2x/month co-writing sessions to help put creativity on your calendar and to get something done (or started!) in community
24/7 access to our interactive community of Word to Your Mother subscribers (i.e. fellow midlife women who are looking to enhance their creativity, too.)
You can get in on all of this as a premium Word to Your Mother subscriber for $6/month. (Sure, we’re biased but we think that’s a LOT of creativity and community packed into the price of a 20 oz almond milk latte.)
