Last Wednesday, nine readers shared their unique stories about motherhood and the holiday season with a packed theater at Boulder’s Dairy Arts Center.
It was the first ever Listen To Your Mother Boulder holiday show, and it couldn’t have been more perfect.
Generally, we eschew perfection—it’s not so important that everything goes according to plan and nobody stumbles over words or gets stage fright or forgets their lipstick or sneezes at the podium.
But really, is there anything more perfect than brave, dynamic writers sharing their personal stories with a welcoming, supportive audience?
Is there anything more perfect than community coming together to support each other, and women getting the chance to share the beautiful imperfection of their own experiences with a roomful of people?
We don’t think so.
It’s a recipe for magic, no matter which holidays you celebrate.
Here are some captured moments:
Our local sponsors are amazing!
We couldn’t have done it without the amazing LTYM Boulder sponsors:
We hope you had the chance to stop by and meet some of them before the show—it was such an honor to have them in the audience.
Thank you also for your support of our local charity, A Precious Child.
With a packed house, we were able to make a donation to support their work with families and children in need. You can make an additional donation to this fantastic organization here—the holidays are a great time to make a difference on a local level.
Already craving your next show?
After such a beautiful evening of connection and community, we are hungry for more, too.
Pam and Steph will both be taking the stage Thursday, December 5th at Muse Performance Space in Lafayette for Reclamation: The Fempire Strikes Back. Steph is producing this hybrid storytelling + stand-up comedy show with Zoe Rogers. The 90-minute performance features women reading pieces and doing stand-up comedy.
Reclamation is a powerful and unapologetic expression of womanhood, amplifying women’s voices and bringing us together to talk about things we generally don’t get to share on stage.
This gorgeous, intimate venue is likely to sell out in advance, so don’t snooze on this.
