In case you missed it, we’re doing a holiday themed LTYM show in November! If you’re new to Listen To Your Mother, here’s what you need to know.
The TLDR on LTYM
Listen To Your Mother is a live storytelling event where local writers read their original essays about motherhood—the good, the bad, and the ugly.
LTYM is:
A live 90-minute storytelling show
A show that strives to include a diverse representation of perspectives, including readers of different ages, ethnicities, religions, and backgrounds
A mixture of poignant, funny, inspiring and relatable stories that explore all aspects of motherhood
A show that features 9-12 readers sharing their original 5-minute stories
LTYM is NOT:
A play like the Vagina Monologues: local writers share original stories
A memorized performance—cast members reads their printed pieces
A comedy show—we balance humorous and poignant real stories about motherhood.*
For published authors or professional speakers only. Our cast includes a wide variety of experience.
Just for moms; many of our shows feature men, too!
You can read the full submission guidelines here. We cannot WAIT to read your submissions, so get writing and make sure to send us your story by midnight on Monday, September 9th.
*We did a LTYM comedy show in April, so if you’re like “Wait, I thought it was a comedy show” that would be why. The fall show is strictly a storytelling show, however.
