Episode Highlights:
Pam and Steph bring you a short “craft tip flight” on four essentials of good storytelling, introducing our April series on writing craft.
Inner and outer story: Every great story needs a plot with action (what happened?) AND a look at how the narrator changed (why it matters).
Story vs anecdote: We break down what separates a high quality story with a beginning, middle, and end from a fun story that doesn’t necessarily have a point.
The narrator as character: It’s important that your reader really understand YOU as a person—your flaws, your vulnerability, and your uniqueness—in order to really be invested in your story.
Narrative arc: hook us in the beginning, show the tension or conflict, and resolve your story (without cliches!).
Join us for our upcoming podcast series where former LTYM cast members read their pieces and we highlight the elements of writing craft they are absolutely crushing. It will be fun AND we’ll learn something!
Thanks to our amazing LTYM Show sponsor, Namaste Solar
For 20 years, Namaste Solar has been Colorado’s go-to for solar panels. One of the first things Dan and I (Pam) did when we moved into our South Boulder home was install Namaste solar panels — and the process was seamless. There’s a reason they’ve continued to serve the Colorado for two decades.
Their sales reps don’t work on commission—which means they don’t employ high-pressure sales tactics. Namaste isn’t just business just to make a profit; they’re also here to make a difference! Listen and learn more:
