Show notes
Pam shares her experience with The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron—a 12-chapter book with exercises that Pam describes as “an instruction manual for your creativity and an invitation to self-awareness and joy.”
Pam explains why doing The Artist’s Way was the best thing she has ever done for her creativity—and she has tried a LOT of things.
A hallmark of The Artist’s Way is figuring out what is blocking you creatively and investigating the narratives that are holding you back.
Getting in touch with your “inner artist” resembles inner child work—rediscovering “play” can be a powerful way to reactive our creativity.
Pam shares some of the results of completing The Artist’s Way: personally, she began to notice a lot of synchronicities and felt more open to flow, and professionally, opportunities began falling in her lap—she landed a dream gig and wrote a successful e-book.
Morning pages and other practices: we discuss the balance between having structured exercises and adjusting your expectations to avoid rigidity and getting in your own way.
Pam describes why The Artist’s Way is uniquely successful: It’s relatable, fun, readable, action-oriented, affordable, and felt do-able.
Community makes everything better! Pam wishes she had done the whole experience with a partner or writing group. We discuss the perks of writing and creating in a group of like-minded midlife women, and we have an idea. . .
Want to try this with us in January? If you think you might be interested in trying The Artist’s Way but want the benefit of doing it in community, fill out the form below. (No commitment, just to stay in the loop!) Don’t worry—with two midlife ADHD creative moms as your guides, this will be a very fun, imperfect take on the process.
Meet our fabulous sponsor
For nearly 20 years, Namaste Solar has been Colorado’s go-to for solar panels. One of the first things Dan and I (Pam) did when we moved into our South Boulder home was install Namaste solar panels — and the process was seamless.
Their sales reps don’t work on commission—which means they don’t employ high-pressure sales tactics. Namaste isn’t just business just to make a profit; they’re also here to make a difference!
